Thank you, Nicholas Kirkwood, the shoe designer collaboration with Rodarte. His spring/summer shoes are fabulous, and that's getting harder to say as I continue to watch the collections roll out of New York (that should change once we hit the Milan shows). I show you guys everything worth seeing, good or bad, but some of the collections are so damn boring (think basic black pump or flat t-strap sandal), I refuse to bore you as well. But alas, one of my favorite shoe designers Nicholas Kirkwood is anything but.
The Rodarte collection was primitivism married to futurism, and was obvious in the footwear, as well as the rest of the collection. Pieces of metal plate cover the toe and the platform while the heel is a stiletto of metal bolts, in perfect contrast to the tribal inspired leather vamp.
This shoe is terribly fierce and a product of shoe design genius.
