Miuccia Prada said she was "questioning innocence, questioning youth" when she designed this collection. Only problem with that is, grown women are her target market and we don't like to dress like a child. The shoes are very child like indeed, in both style and design. The silk materials display child like flower or animal themes and the round toe mary jane is every little girls dress shoe. The other shoes that weren't mary janes were still quirky and not what one would expect from a high priced luxury label.

It's amazing to me that a designer can go from beautiful, expertly crafted shoes to this in the span of less than a year.

While last year Miu Miu shoes were among my favorites, this season is quite disappointing. Most of the Fall 2009 collection is simply boring, but these shoes look like they were thrown together without any thought. Granted, the gold colored glitter is very eye catching and bling-y, but all glitter shoes shed and with bits of glitter laying by your feet you end up looking like you're wearing an art project. Then there is the issue of the giant velvet bow. The material and color are all wrong. A nice silk gold bow would be pretty, and even a black silk bow could work, but velvet?

It pains me to say this, but I was unimpressed with the Miu Miu Fall 2009 Shoe Collection. Miuccia Prada, the designer, debuted three distinct styles of shoe. One was simply bland with all of the unremarkable designs in a kacki color. These shoes would be great footwear for the office, but you can get a very similar shoe from many other designers at a fraction of Miu Miu's costs. The second distinct style of shoe was a fur covered heel and ankle strap. Why in the world would you put fur in a place that has direct contact with the ground? The moment these shoes go outdoors the back will look like a wet animal, especially the ones with fur lining the footbed. The third style she debuted was a heavily embellished satin pump, and while I usually like an embellished shoe, these looked like a bunch of pailettes were piled on top of the vamp. It was a very stark contrast to the clean, neatly stitched pailette pumps from last season.

While I am usually not a 'flats' kind of girl, sometimes our feet demand comfort. On such occasion I could deal with these cute little Miu Miu 'Lux' flat shoe. It's fitted like a ballet slipper so they are super comfortable. It's metallic military green leather with blue-green crystal appliqué. If you have to wear flats, these shoes keep it cute. These are the Miu Miu Patent Plisse Slingback pumps. These are a way cuter version of a simple black pump. The texture in the cork platform and heel are a nice contrast with the banded patent leather vamp, and of course, the purple sole is fabulous. I hope Miu Miu starts making the purple sole a signature mark like Christian Louboutin and the red sole. The heel is 5", but with the 1.5" platform it feels more like a 3.5" heel...not so bad. Another piece of evidence as to why Miu Miu is my favorite label for shoes. These Swarovsky platform sandals are gorgeous! I love the big chunky crystals on the heel and the contrasting, dainty T strap. I would wear these fab shoes with jeans and a cute top or a little party dress. The heels on this shoe are a fierce 5 inches. $695 at Net a Porter.

Yes, I am writing about Miu Miu's sequined shoes yet again. I can't get enough of them! I'm a bit perplexed about the price difference on this platform shoe and the latest sequined pumps Miu Miu has released. This shoe is $300 more, for a grand total of $950, and I don't see any difference except that it has a platform. Here are two that cost $650, and I am dying for either pair.
