The Givenchy shoes debuted at the Fall 2010 collection ranged from boring to Chinese dime store, and were overall disappointing. Givenchy designer, Riccardo Tisci said he was inspired by the ski and scuba world, however I don’t see a correlation in the theme and the shoes.

I have listed the pictures in order of my opinion of the shoes from best to worst. The above boot is somewhat interesting simply for the exposed upper foot, but pointy toed shoes get on my nerves in general. They always make feet look bigger.

The lace up ankle boots directly below are decent, but what a nightmare to put on and lace up.

The taller boots are a very awkward height, and the red version looks like it’s made from a turkey neck.

The two sandals make me cringe, especially the flats. I can’t stand it when designers make shoes that look like they are for a child, or something so simple and unflattering then call it ‘artistic’.

How fabulous are these Givenchy shoes? They did a black version for Fall 2009, but for the upcoming Spring 2010, they come in cream. They are python embossed leather with various shaped stud details. I love how they don’t use the standard round studs, but rather star shaped, pointy and sunburst. Also notice the studs by the toes. These Givenchy booties have a 5 inch heel and a .3 inch platform. Givenchy is the hot, new label right now, and designer Riccardo Tisci is at the point where he's proved himself in ready-to-wear, and now he's hitting his stride in couture. The shoes from this Couture 2010 collection are very distinctive, with designs like the open ankle boot with T-strap detail above and a very bright sequined boot. The ankle boots were done in various colors and remind me a bit of the Prada Fall 2009 boots, with the random strap detail. There is a T strap mule that's somewhat boring. The sequined ankle boot (hard to see in the pic) appears to have a very high platform (will post when I get a better pic). I don't really see what's couture about these shoes. Fall 2010 maybe?

Sorry for the extended leave, I was on vacation at Disney World with the family. And by vacation I mean spending way too much money to stand in lines for hours to ride a two minute ride, over and over again. Finished with a stolen pair of designer jeans from the laundry room at my over priced resort hotel. Anyhoo, I'm back and I bring you these fabulous Givenchy shoes. I have been all about Givenchy recently, with their unique studs and optical prints. These boots don't feature these details, but they are fabulous never the less.  The boots have a 4.5 inch tapered black nappa heel and a pointed open-toe. They are made of black calfskin with shiny, tribal embroidered inserts, cut-outs and stud embellishment. These Givenchy boots are so my speed. They're high society meets country western and my idea of the perfect jeans boot. The slightly distressed leather and rope tassel detail give this shoe a western flair while the 4 inch heel and pointed toe are standard chic. They are slip on and wide enough to tuck your jeans into. $1,295 at Saks. 

The Givenchy Fall 2009 Shoe Collection is absolutely fabulous and anything but practical. Feathers, fur and spikes dominated a collection full of fantasy footwear. The feather detailed shoes are fit for a goddess, while the spiked sandals are more fitting for a dominatrix. Personally, I like all of the shoes, but I would really love to have one of the spiked sandals.

This Givenchy shoe design is being called an ankle sandal, but whatever it's called, it's hot. These are the Givenchy Crossed strap sandals in shiny balck patent leather with a woven trim. It has a very chic yet rock and roll look that will look fabulous year round. I like them with the outfit shown above, but they would also look great with skinny jeans and a crisp button down.
