Louis Vuitton Shoes Fall 2010

Louis-Vuitton-Shoes-Fall-2010

I’m not po’ed at Marc Jacobs, but I’m not happy with him either. The Louis Vuitton shoes for fall 2010 are nothing special, but he was going with a 50’s era style for this collection, and the high heeled pump with flat bow are well suited for that theme. (Christian Louboutin’s take on the era is so much better.)

Every shoe from the collection is a variation of the one pictured above, with changes in color and material only. Not quite a ‘collection’ in my opinion.

Although the shoes from this collection weren't my speed, he did fabulous work on the Louis Vuitton handbags for fall 2010.

Chanel Shoes Fall 2010

Chanel-Shoes-Fall-2010

At some point ‘creative genius’ needs to be called what it really is – crazy. I think Karl Lagerfeld’s Chanel shoes in the Fall 2010 collection are just that, oh, and ugly. His inspiration for this collection was “three bears on an ice flow”, and like a polar bear who always has wet, usually dirty paws, the furry boots he designed are meant to collect the dirty, wetness beneath anyone’s feet when they wear these god-awful boots. Perfect shoes for a crowded college bar, non?

Karl also designed a partial rain boot, partial because the rubber only covers the heel and the bottom portion of the boot. How creative?!

Hideous.

Givenchy Shoes Fall 2010

by catherine 8. March 2010 04:20

Givenchy-Shoes-Fall-2010

The Givenchy shoes debuted at the Fall 2010 collection ranged from boring to Chinese dime store, and were overall disappointing. Givenchy designer, Riccardo Tisci said he was inspired by the ski and scuba world, however I don’t see a correlation in the theme and the shoes.

I have listed the pictures in order of my opinion of the shoes from best to worst. The above boot is somewhat interesting simply for the exposed upper foot, but pointy toed shoes get on my nerves in general. They always make feet look bigger.

The lace up ankle boots directly below are decent, but what a nightmare to put on and lace up.

The taller boots are a very awkward height, and the red version looks like it’s made from a turkey neck.

The two sandals make me cringe, especially the flats. I can’t stand it when designers make shoes that look like they are for a child, or something so simple and unflattering then call it ‘artistic’.

Christian Dior Shoes Fall 2010

by catherine 7. March 2010 04:59

Christian-Dior-Shoes-Fall-2010

There were three distinct styles of shoe at the Christian Dior Fall 2010 show, and all were boots of some sort. My favorite is the above lace ankle boot with corset style lacing up the back of the ankle. So, so pretty and sexy. They are definitely on my ‘must have’ list. I like the other two designs as well, although they are a bit conservative for Dior, … I know, current times. The latter boots are very stylish and chic, with a distinct equestrian element that was Galliano’s theme for Fall 2010. Overall, this is one of my favorite collections this season.

Balenciaga Shoes Fall 2010

by catherine 5. March 2010 05:52

Balenciaga-Shoes-Fall-2010

“Cosmonauts and seventies Formica. Packaging and food boxes. Synthetic foam and plywood. And a kind of rigidity” That was the inspiration behind the Fall 2010 Balenciaga shoes, said designer Nicolas Ghesquière.

I find the collection very interesting, but I don’t see myself wearing any of them. The color block, geometric heels and platforms are unique, and have an art-work quality. I really like the various colors of the shoes and that there are many complimenting colors in each shoe. At least the Balenciaga shoes are different and worthy of review, which is more than I can say about most of the Fall 2010 collections.

Roberto Cavalli Shoes Fall 2010

by catherine 1. March 2010 06:34

Roberto-Cavalli-Shoes-Fall-2010

Fashion Week in every city thus far has been pretty boring, especially the shoes. If I have to look at another pair of close toed, simple pumps, I’ll cry. However, the Roberto Cavalli shoes for the upcoming Fall 2010 are pretty good. I like his use of animal prints and cut out details, and I love the irregular lace ups.

Fendi Shoes Fall 2010

by catherine 26. February 2010 04:02

Fendi-Shoes-Fall-2010

Karl Lagerfeld’s Fendi Fall 2010 collection was slightly countrified, with muted palettes of gray, navy, beige, and mustard. The theme is consistent with what he did for the Chanel Spring 2010 collection, and although the shoes are very different, they are equally boring and unflattering.

The Fendi collection was a play on the sensible and utilitarian with high-heeled booties detailed with ribbed rubber toe caps and top lacing akin to Wellingtons or the muckers that horsey girls wear in the stable yard. Even the ‘dressy’ mary jane style shoes sported the silly rubber toe cap, not exactly a compliment to purple silk.

I get that collections are designs reflective of the current times, but why not give us something pretty to make us happy in an otherwise bleak time.
