Valentino Shoes Couture 2010 Collection

by Administrator 7. February 2010 05:45

The Valentino shoes debuted in the Couture 2010 collection come in two distinct groups, the one is a variation of beautiful swirling, layered chiffon in pastel hues, the other a much simpler strappy sandal with bits of bright color. The former is a very elegant shoe, suitable for specific events, and the ladder is a chic sandal that can be worn anywhere and everywhere.

Besides changing the color of the chiffon, designers  Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli also had various colors for the platform and heel. Some even sport a red sole, something that is distinctly NOT Valentino, and seems like a bit of a rip off my man CL. Regardless, the shoe is gorgeous.

The sandals are much simpler and have a discreet swirling cut out design. They are very pretty and chic, but also versatile and can look fabulous with many looks. I predict these will be a big hit this Spring.

Casadei Patent Sculptured Sandals

by Administrator 4. February 2010 04:17

Other than the unusual, sculptured heel of this Casadei shoe, it's rather simple, but I absolutely love it. It obviously has a 70's sort of groovy look, but with a bit of futuristic chic. It's super shiny patent leather (also comes in black) and it has a 5 inch sculpted heel and a 2 inch platform. These shoes will look fabulous with leggings and a fitted top, making them stand out. $912. Casadei shoes are available at LUISAVIAROMA.COM.

Chanel Shoes Couture 2010 Collection

by Administrator 3. February 2010 04:26

Well, I wouldn't call it a collection, it's only two shoes, but here are the Chanel shoes from the 2010 Couture collection. The above shoe is by far the most interesting, even though it reminds me of Nicholas Kirkwood's recent Spring 2009 design. The pearl detail along the foot bed wasn't that popular in Kirkwoods version, but in this shoe the bright silver leather allows the pearls to have a more subtle effect and the smaller pearls along the heel make the overall look cohesive. This shoe is both futuristic and elegant, and should be a sell out for the Chanel consumers. The shoe below is pretty boring by contrast. The scrolled heel has been done time and again, so this is nothing new or interesting.

Nicholas Kirkwood "Alice in Wonderland" Shoes

by Administrator 2. February 2010 04:44

Nicholas Kirkwood has been asked by Printemps department store, one of the largest luxury stores in France, to design a special pair of shoes for a window display to be revealed at the same time as Tim Burton-directed "Alice in Wonderland," which opens March 5. The movie will be huge in France, especially considering it stars their local favorite actor, Johnny Depp. It's an absolutely perfect pick, as Nicholas Kirkwood shoes are often bright, sometimes unusual in a chic way, but always extremely eye catching and fun.

Kirkwood is the only accessories designer invited to participate.  Printemps also invited Haider Ackermann, Charles Anastase, Manish Arora, Chloé, Ann Demeulemeester, Christopher Kane, Alexander McQueen, Maison Martin Margiela and Bernhard Willhelm to interpret Alice's dress. As the Kirkwood pick was perfect, so too are McQueen and MMM. I wish one of our US department stores had such a brilliant idea.

Nicholas Kirkwood Fluro Sandal

by Administrator 1. February 2010 04:26

When I first saw these Nicholas Kirkwood shoes on the runway, I loved the bright color combination and wide cut outs. I can't and don't care to wear bright colors on my body, so I like to have a splash of color on my feet (or handbag). These sandals are green leather with purple python at the heel and a purple leather footbed. The black laces and heel offer a stark contrast and further compliment the bright colors. This shoe doesn't have his signature contoured platform, which, I think, would have made the shoe too busy. $1,261 at LUISAVIAROMA.COM.

Georgina Goodman Nadine Pump

by Administrator 31. January 2010 05:33

Georgina Goodman shoes are never run of the mill or boring, and are almost always a stand out piece. These Nadine pumps are from her Spring/Summer 2010 collection and represent a focal point in her collection: 3D silhouette. This particular design is the strongest in that regard, but others from the collection, like the Noah platform below, are a bit less dramatic. The Nadine pump is a fabulous shoe and should be paired with something that allows optimal viewing, like an LBD. It's made from black and beige leather and has a 4.5 inch heel and a 1 inch platform. $675. Find Georgina Goodman shoes at Endless.

Pasquale Fabrizio's Glass Slippers

by Administrator 29. January 2010 03:51

In February 2010 Pasquale Fabrizio, the shoe designer often referred to as "the shoe cobbler to the stars", will debut his glass slipper collection. Mmmmk. I'm not sure a shoe is a good place for glass details. The asking price for these exclusive shoes is $7,500, and Fabrizio defends the high cost by explaining the shoes have 24 carat gold bead details and Murano glass, a glass blown in Italy that usually contains various colors and patterns. I still think the cost is ridiculous, I mean, how many gold beads are on the shoe exactly? Also, I have Murano glass stemware and it's not that expensive. Cost aside, the shoe itself is nothing special. I'd rather have a pair of Loubies.
